Catalytic Converter Thefts in Grass Valley

A rash of Catalytic converter thefts hit grass Valley last week. Sgt Jason Perry with the Grass Valley Police Department says the thieves know exactly what they are after, choosing the same type and simlilar year vehicles.

thieves steal the Catalytic converters for the precious medels they contain. some vehicles contain more of the valueable medals then others. Toyotas are one of the most popular targets because of the easy access to the converter and the amount of the medal they contain. Theives can get $60 to $65 dollars for each converter sold at recycle yards. It costs the victm hundreds of dollars to replace the converters on their vehicles.
