Celebration of Life Triathlon

The 18th Annual Barbara Schmidt Millar Celebration of Life Triathlon takes place this Sunday Sept 16 at Scott’s Flat Lake. The Triatlon is a win-win-win for breast cancer awareness, fundraising, and of course health and fitness. New race Director Nancy Avilla remembers Barbara Schmidt Millar, her commitment to others, and how the event came to be.

Former race director Kathy Anderson Myers is still involved with the Celebration of Life- this year she will be participating in the 5K walk portion of the event.

The event had humble beginnings but is growing each year.

The sense of community around the Celebration of Life is unlike that at any other events.

Money raised by the Celebration of Life Triathlon goes to support the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital’s  Women’s Imaging Center and is also used to fund a number of scholarships for students seeking careers in healthcare. Last year alone, the triathlon funded imaging for over 100 women that would not have been able to afford so otherwise.
