Cell Phone Leads to Drug Arrest

Information on a cell phone belonging to a man who was arrested on violation of probation lead to a drug sting operation and a second arrest. Nevada County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Bill Smethers says the Narcotics Task Force searched the cell phone and found evidence of recent activity involving narcotics sales.*

Shortly there after the subject showed up on a BMX bicycle and narcotics officers recognized him as 22 year old Tanner Stone.*

As they were in foot pursuit of the suspect they witnessed Stone toss an orange bottle, which was later determined to be a pill bottle into the creek.*

Stone was taken into on charges of possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and obstruction of evidence.
