Cell Phone Theft Turns Into Extortion Arrest

A suspect in a cell phone theft in Grass Valley was apparently not satisfied with getting away. Police Sergeant Clint Lovelady says 29-year-old Gabriel Corral was reported to have stolen the cell phone, late Tuesday night, from an employee of a store on Freeman Lane. Corral was booked on charges that included extortion and grand theft. He was also charged with misdemeanor possession of a small, user amount of methamphetamine. And Lovelady says Corral had also hidden a hypodermic needle in his mouth while being booked.
