Cement Truck Involved in Fatal Hwy 20 Accident

An accident involving a cement truck and one other vehicle on Highway 20 at Rough and Ready Highway yesterday afternoon at 4:12 p.m. has resulted in one fatality. CHP Officer Justin Barnthouse says the fully loaded cement truck was heading westbound on Hwy 20 towards the intersection and possibly lost braking power as it approached the red light.

The driver of the Toyota, a 51 year old woman from Rough and Ready was killed. The name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The cement truck kept going and ended up overturned in Squirrel Creek .

The driver of the cement truck, 57 year old James Ennenga from Rancho Cordova was able to get himself out of the truck. He suffered moderate injuries and was treated at Sutter Roseville Hospital. The westbound #2 lane of Highway 20 was closed for several hours to facilitate the investigation of the collision, as well as removal of the vehicles. The collision and it’s cause remain under investigation.
