How the Centennial Reservoir Project could benefit growers and farmers in Nevada County is the focus of the second seminar this year being put on by the County Resource Conservation District Monday evening. Conservation District Executive Director Jan Blake says this time NID General Manager Rem Scherzinger will speak on the topic of “California Drought and the Centennial Project Update”…
But Blake says the Conservation District is officially neutral about the project…
Blake says a recent NID survey showed 83-percent support. But at a recent NID meeting about the Centennial project, a number of neighboring property owners expressed strong opposition. Concerns included impacts on the Bear River, recreation, traffic, and property rights. The seminar is from 6 to 8 this evening. Blake says attendance is only through reserving a spot through the Conservation District Office or on their website. That’s when the location of the event is disclosed. The District holds seminars year-round on ag topics.
