Check Forgery Lands Suspect in Jail

An Auburn woman was arrested three months after stealing checks from a friend’s family member and then using a checkĀ  to deposit money in to her personal account. Suspect Regina Devine was in the house of a friend when the sequence of events began.

Auburn Police Sergeant, Dale Hutchins, said after an investigation identified Devine as the suspect, and probable cause was developed she was taken into custody for a number of charges.

Hutchins says this type of crime begins as a crime of opportunity that leads to serious consequecnces for those that are guilty.

Devine was faces chargers for burglary and forgery.
