The Coronavirus pandemic and subsequent retractions put in place keeping students at home and forcing people to work remotely exposed a big weakness in available internet for many residents. To help address the need to improve access, the county library is now offering internet hot spots for people to check out for a couple of weeks at a time. Adult Services Librarian Megan Lloyd says a grant allowed them to purchase a number hot spots.
The hot spots will allow users to wirelessly connect multiple devices to the intenet.
The library will also offer limited technical support to help you get access once you check out a hot spot.
Lloyd says that along with access to the internet, users will also have access to specific medical resources to help people wade through information overload about COVID and other medical concerns.
And now that schools are shifting back to online learning, students should also have improved access to their school resources for distance education.
