Check out these Air Quality Numbers

This is the 8:00a.m. update from the Nevada County Health Department on our air quality. It’s still very unhealthy to be  outside.  That’s tough on dogs who look forward to their daily exercise.  Yesterday I ran my dog up and down the stairs. He seemed to really like it and we both got a good workout.

The PM 2.5 numbers in Grass Valley this morning have risen over the past hour. The current PM2.5 is 509.0 micrograms per cubic meter. For the 1-3hour range, this puts us in the Very Unhealthy range. Here are the numbers from the past several hours:
• 2am-3am: 18.0
• 3am-4am: 18.0
• 4am-5am: 158.0
• 5am-6am: 309.0
• 6am-7am: 509.0
As you can see, right now the numbers are trending upward. While this can change just as quickly in the downward direction, these current numbers indicate that ALL outdoor activities should be cancelled and students should be kept in an air conditioned building. Additionally, indoor activities should be limited to those with the least physical exertion.
