Check Wood Before You Burn

With the storm building and colder temperatures moving into Nevada County more people are burning fires to stay warm. And with the holidays upon us, many people burn fires simply for decorative purposes. However, fires can be dangerous and it is important to  inspect your wood before throwing into your wood stove or fireplace. Director of Gold Country Senior Services,  Sandy Jacobson says a client of her organization that provides free firewood to low income seniors and disabled individuals discovered a piece of wood that was apparently tampered with and wants to remind people to inspect their wood before burning it.

Jacobson says that law enforcement was notified and are investigating the issue. She just wants to remind anyone burning wood to take a quick look before dropping the wood on the fire.
