Child Located on Bike Path Leads to Mother’s Arrest

Deputies from the Placer County Sheriff in North Lake Tahoe found a young boy on the bike path on the Truckee River on Thursday and concern was raised when they could not locate the child’s mother. According to Placer County Sgt. Michelle Baxter the 11 year old boy is the son of Mary Stamps.

Coincidentally some time later, Mary Stamps asked a convenience store clerk if she could use a phone because she was having car trouble.

After a short conversation, local dispatch was able to connect the 911call and the missing boy information from earlier in the day.
Deputies responded and took Mary Stamps into custody on alleged child endangerment charges was taken into custody with a bail amount of 250,000. Stamps had an addition felony charge added for committing a crime while on probation.
