Child Molest Case Also Uncovers Drug Activity

What started as a child molestation arrest at a Nevada City home resulted in five more people taken into custody, mainly for manufacturing and selling butane honey oil. Nevada County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Bill Smethers, with the Narcotics Task Force, says they got involved after police learned that there was also a lot of drug activity going on at the home on South Pine Street…

31-year-old Carl Geary, one of the tenants of the home, is charged with six felony counts in relation to having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl, as well as one felony drug manufacturing charge. Smethers says most of the honey oil processing was going on in Geary’s bedroom. The second lab was found in the basement. Three other men and a woman were also arrested on drug-related charges, as well as a 16-year-old boy…

A 13-year-old girl was also released to Child Protective Services, but might also be arrested, according to Smethers. 57-year-old Peter Silverman and his 48-year-old wife, Carol, also face child endangerment charges. Also arrested on drug charges were 30-year-old Cory Simmons and 24-year-old Lela Hubbard.
