Children Seek Big Pals Through Big Brothers and Big Sisters

Now that Big Brother Big Sisters has hired a Site Coordinator for the Pals Program, more matches are being made between High school age mentors and grade school children. The Pals program pairs high school juniors and seniors with little pals in 3rd through 6th grades.  DeeJay Newell  who is the new Pals site coordinator  says  having been in the Pals  program herself when she was at Nevada Union  High School is helping her recruit Pal volunteers..

Newell says she already has 27 High School students signed up to be Pals and 9 more waiting to be matched.  She will be  visiting 2nd grade classes throughout the district to let students know the Pals program is available to them  starting next school year .  Pals meet once a week and careful followup is done   to see how the pals are doing.
