Chilly Weather for Spring Run

Approximately 100 runners and walkers braved the chilly temperatures Saturday morning to take part in the 28th Annual Spring Run in Nevada City. Race Director Marianne Boyer says the annual 5 and 10k run is sponsored by the United Methodist Church and is the second race in the 2014 Grand Prix Series.*

The out and back course is on a combination of hilly city streets and dirt roads and had the added challenge of puddles along the course because of rains the night before. Boyer says the entry fees for the race go to the church’s outreach fund to support a variety of good causes in Nevada County.*

Even with the cooler temperatures and added obstacles the runners and walkers seemed to enjoy themselves while also getting a good dose of exercise. Each runner also received a tomato plant courtesy Weiss Brothers Nursery to get a head start on their spring gardens.
