CHP: Highway 49 at Sinkhole Poses No Danger

Emergency crews, law enforcement, and others are breathing a sigh of relief. They say Highway 49 near the sinkhole in Grass Valley is safe. The right lane was closed southbound from Empire Street to McKnight Way because a depression was discovered in the right lane, and it seems that even the left lane had dropped a little bit. The sinkhole opened up two weeks ago on private property in that area, and has caused an estimate one-point-two million dollars in property damage.
