CHP Investigating Highway 49 Fatal Accident

The CHP has a lot of questions into the events leading up to a fatal collision on Highway 49. CHP Public Information Officer Dina Hernandez says the accident was reported by two bicyclists shortly after seven Tuesday evening. The cyclists found a a 1973 Ford over the embankment on Highway 49 near Moonshine Road near the Middle Fork of the Yuba River. Officer Hernandez says a 50 year old male was found inside the vehicle.

The Camptonville and North San Juan Fire Departments responded to the scene, and declared the driver dead. The CHP is not releasing the name of the driver until the next of kin is notified of the death.
