CHP Maximum Enforcement in effect from 6:00 PM New Years Eve until Midnight Sunday. CHP Officer Mark Morrison says no check point, but more officers in the field.
Grass Valley CHP electing to forgo a checkpoint for more officers on patrol. So far for 2014 there have been close to 200 DUI related arrests in Western Nevada County.
Morrsion says there have been a number of DUI related collisions in the county as well.
Among the 88 DUI collisions some were also fatalities.
As far as trends are concerned there is a slight uptick this year.
Officer Morrsion stresses all drivers and passengers should make a plan ahead of time, because once you start drinking it it likely too late.
The CHP reminds everyone there are plenty of options and way to have fun that do not involve drinking and driving.
