A day the California Highway Patrol has been waiting for is soon to arrive.  In preparation for the move officers and staff have been packing boxes and wrapping sensitive equipment. CHP Public Information Officer Dina Hernandez says the current office on Sutton Way and the new office on McCourtney Road will be closed Friday as the office will be moving to the new building.

The new facility will allow the CHP to have easy access to the major roads in the county.  As part of a unique relationship, the new hi-tech facility is built to the CHP requirements but is owned by a private business.  The State will pay for a yearly lease, and will own the building at the completion of the payments. In an effort to lower operating costs,  solar collectors have been installed on the new building.
