A reminder to motorists on the roads this week, the Highway Patrol will be out in force. The Maximum Enforcement Period begins tomorrow (Wednesday) at 6pm and continues through Sunday at 11:59pm. That means every available C-H-P officer will be out on patrol. Officer Dave Martinez with the Auburn C-H-P office says they will be looking for more than just drunk drivers…
The Grass Valley C-H-P office will also be on maximum enforcement, and so will every other office in the state. Five people were killed in the state during the Christmas enforcement period last year, and 221 D-U-I arrests were made. Martinez says the maximum enforcement helps, but they are hoping for a fatality-free holiday…
The Highway Patrol will have another maximum enforcement period during the New Year’s holiday.
