A chance to learn what goes on behind the scenes of the Nevada County Executive Offices as well as number of county wide agencies is once again available for a limited number of the general public. County Public Information Officer, Taylor Wolfe, says the annual Nevada County Citizens Academy is taking place in January, but applications are due this Friday.
Along with finance and administration, attendees will be informed about the sheriff’s department, office of emergency services, the district attorney and public defender ‘s office and other community services as part of each two and a half hour session. The Academy usually includes tours of facilities, including the jail and the supervisors offices, as well as informational presentations from different department leaders. With COVID restrictions in place, no in-person sessions will take place. Along with interested community members, many local officials participate in the Academy.
