Citizens United Ruling Focus Of Education Forum

A recent U-S Supreme Court decision regarding campaign financing is the focus of this month’s Education Forum put on by Nevada County’s Democratic Central Committee. Political Outreach Chair Paul Berger says author and constitutional scholar Derek Cressman will be discussing the Citizens United case. The court ruled that individuals and corporations are entitled to contribute unlimited amounts of money in election campaigns….

Cressman is also a former director of Common Cause and a 2014 candidate for California Secretary of State. Berger says Cressman is the architect behind voter instruction measures in four states, including California, demanding a constitutional amendment to overturn the ruling. That would require three-fourths of state legislatures to approve it and Congress to ratify it…
