That student can pick out something from the Clothes Closet free of charge, and sometimes Carnahan will even go shopping for them. Carnahan says they serve about two dozen kids at N-U alone-some are homeless, others may be in a situation where they live at home, but parents or guardians either can’t or don’t provide enough for them. She says one extreme example was a boy who came to school with filthy clothes that didn’t fit…

They were able to get him a warm jacket and some gloves. Carnahan says they get some funding, but could use either monetary donations or gently worn clothing. For more information, you can call Carnahan at 305-6855.
