Commercial Grow Discovered on Dog Bar Road

Nevada County Sheriff’s deputies conducting a compliance check on a marijuana garden in the 18-thousand block of Dog Bar Road yesterday morning discovered what appeared to be a sizable commercial operation. Sheriff’s Sgt. Ray Kress says when deputies arrived they observed about a dozen workers fleeing the area where marijuana was being processed.

Deputies obtained a search warrant for the property and eleven subjects were detained all foreign nationals from Peru, Italy and Sweden.  They were not charged. A shotgun and $25 thousand dollars in cash was  recovered from the property and 37 marijuana plants as well as processed marijuana were seized as evidence. The tenant of the property, 24 year old Matteo Meadowcroft was arrested on suspicion of unlawful cultivation of marijuana and has already released on $10,000 bail.
