Communications Line Cut Disrupts 911 service

A major communications line was cut Saturday about 5pm cutting cell and land line phone service in Nevada County. A downed power line across the road at the area of highway 49 and Lime Kiln in the South county was affecting traffic and was cut to remove the line from the highway. When th line was cut it terminated transmission of phone service, cell and land line phone service and also affected 911 service. 911 calls were rerouted to The Grass Valley Police Department and other unaffected agencies. ATT and Verizon was contacted and ATT had service returned to most customers by 7pm. Verizon as of 7:30 had not restored service. Emergency management agency of Nevada County had the mobile command center which used satellite phones moved into position at their headquarters location in Nevada County.
