Nevada City’s Canine Police Team is just about ready to roll again, thanks to some help from the community. Officer Scott Goin and police dog Rudiger were both slightly injured after a car crashed into them on Monday while they were performing a traffic stop. Both are okay now, but the car was destroyed. Police Chief Tim Foley says that’s where the work from a local welder came in…
That equipment was in storage in Nevada City. Foley says they needed someone to put the old canine gear into the old patrol car…
So now they have a temporary K-9 vehicle until the insurance can replace the brand new cruiser that was totaled in the crash, which could take several months. Foley says Officer Goin and Rudiger are expected to be back on the streets again, as early as Sunday.
