Community Marijuana Advisory Group Chosen

Dozens of people have shown interested in being on Nevada County’s Community Advisory Group to formulate a medical marijuana ordinance, and 14 people have been selected. Tuesday was the deadline to apply for the committee, and the applications were narrowed down quickly. They needed to get a list of names in place in order to put the matter before the Board of Supervisors next week. The list of 14 includes eight men and six women, four are from Grass Valley, five from Nevada City, and five from Penn Valley, and all five supervisorial districts are represented. The Board of Supervisors will discuss the recommendations at their next meeting, which is Tuesday morning. Powers says if the committee is approved, the first committee meeting could be held before the end of the month.
