Community Notification System Now Available

With a stormy weekend ahead, the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office has partnered with Nixle to implement what’s called a “Community Notification System”. Captain Jeff Pettit says it’s an enhancement to their “Code Red” automated emergency landline phone system that’s for ALL residents. Pettit says residents need to sign up for this system, by texting your zip code to 888777. Messages are e-mailed or texted…

The Department says standard texting and messaging rates may apply. Once registered, residents will receive a confirmation text to their mobile device. All alerts will be targeted geographically, allowing residents to receive localized, relevant, messages.
