Congregation Helps Man with Cancer

Members of Gold Country Calvary Church in Grass Valley are trying to help a 58 year old man suffering from terminal brain cancer, but they can’t seem to get through the red tape to get him the help he needs. ¬†Joy Sidebottom is a member of the congregation that has made it her mission to get Stephen Jobe into a long term care facility so he can be comfortable as his disease progresses, but it’s insurance plans that are getting in the way.

Sounds simple but Sidebotton says it’s really not.

In the mean time Jobe sold all of his possessions and bought a van that he started living in….The Church members have opened their building to him for night shelter.

Sidebottom says the congregation is still fighting to get Stephen the help he needs.

Jobe says he appreciates all the work the church members have done trying to get him into a care facility. In the mean time the congregation members have been able to secure an apartment for Stephen so he can have a warm place to stay while they continue the fight over insurance.

Anyone who wants to help can call the Gold Country Calvalry Church at 274-2108.
