It is officially known as glossophobia- the fear of public speaking- and according to experts as much as 75% of the population claim to have some form of the fear. To help Nevada County residents better understand the phobia, the five local chapters of Toastmasters are hosting a special presentation of “Speak” a documentary film about the fear of public speaking. Empire Toastmaster member, Ruth Schwartz, says the movie makes connections between normal people and World Champion speakers.

The films creators spent two years conducting hundreds of interviews about public speaking anxiety.
The April 2nd Open House and Movie takes place at the Unitarian Universalist Community of the Mountains, 246 South Church Street in Grass Valley, 6 pm to 9 pm ($5 donation is suggested)
There will also be short presentations and information about each of the Toastmasters Clubs in Western Nevada County.
