With precipitation staying above average, the State Water Resources Control Board has slightly reduced conservation mandate levels for many urban and rural providers. But mandates have been extended through October. Nevada Irrigation District Operations Manager Chip Close says their level has been reduced from the maximum of 36-percent, to 33-percent. And says it may be reduced even further in the coming months…
The Water Resources Board may make further revisions at its April meeting, if the snowpack continues to grow at or near the current rate. Meanwhile, like many areas, the District’s conservation rate took a major drop, from 32-percent in November to 23 and a half percent in December. Close is not surprised..
Close says since mandatory water conservation was imposed, in June of last year, NID’s overall rate has been 30-percent.
