The Nevada County Consolidated Fire District will make it official tonight, and approve the contract of Jim Turner as their new fire chief. Turner was appointed to the position in August, but his contract had to be worked out, along with the contract of Jerry Funk as Deputy Fire Chief. The August appointment took other agencies by surprise, because it came just a week after a meeting to discuss a proposal of three departments sharing one chief. Consolidated Board Chair Warren Knox reiterated on KNCO Friday, that the district needed to put someone in charge…
Knox says his district is still open to sharing administrative services with the Grass Valley and Nevada City Police Departments. Knox also said on ‘KNCO Insight: Nevada County Action’ Friday, that very few people have protested the idea that Consolidated firefighters may be pulled out of Nevada City Fire Station 54 next year…
Nevada County Consolidated has sent a letter to Nevada City, notifying them that unless other financial arrangements can be made, Consolidated will pull their firefighters out of Station 54 next May, to save on overtime and other costs.
