Consolidation talks between the Grass Valley School District and the Nevada City Elementary School District continued Wednesday evening. County Superintendent of Schools staff presented positive news of limited-to-no-impact on State and Federal categorical funding unless the demographics of a particular school should change dramatically.
Staff also discussed the effects of salary leveling on the two districts saying it is almost completely offset by an increase in revenue of approximately $465,000 created by the consolidation. Both districts and the county office fiscal staff agreed that more in-depth analysis is needed to eliminate assumptions.
The two boards will meet again on December 5th to continue discussions.
