“Constitution Week” in Nevada County

Nevada County has proclaimed the week of September 17-23 as Constitution Week following a request from the Captain John Oldham Chapter, of the Daughters of the American Revolution of Nevada County.  Member, Susan Olander says they are 140 members strong in Nevada County. The tradition of celebrating the signing of the Constitution was started by the Daughters of the American Revolution in 1955, and was signed by congress and adopted into law in 1956.

September 17th 2012 marks the 225th anniversary of the celebration of the signing of the United States Constitution. And Nevada City will host a Constitution Day Parade on Sunday September 9th. at 2 o’clock.  The theme of the constitution Day parade this year is “Defenders of the Constitution ” and all active duty military veterans family and friends are invited to join in the parade this year as it marches  down Broad Street.
