Contact Tracer Staffing Solid In Nevada County

As reopening progresses, the state has launched a training program to greatly expand the number of so-called “contact tracers”, to help mitigate any potential surge in coronavirus cases. Governor Newsom says as many as 20-thousand people may need to go through the 20 hours of online training. Only around three-thousand are currently on hand. But in Nevada County, Public Health Director Jill Blake says they’ve had an adequate communicable disease staff for years…

But Blake says current contact tracers have also already taken the state training program…

Blake also says if the stay-at-home order hadn’t been issued, additional support would have been needed. Nevada County hasn’t had a confirmed coronavirus case since April 28th.
