Controlled Burn Creating Visible Smoke

A rather large plume of smoke is visible to the north of Nevada County. The Plumas National Forest is conducting a prescribed burn in the Challenge area.

The approximately 150-acre burn has been ignited this morning and is slated to burn for 2-4 days.

A total of 3 prescribed burns are taking place his week on the Plumas National Forest. Smoke can be seen in the Challenge, Slapjack area and is visible as far as Penn Valley, North San Juan and Nevada City.
