Convenience Store “Bandit” Arrested in Auburn

Auburn police have a man in custody after officers saw him forcibly steal beer from a convenience store. Police Sergeant Dale Hutchins says a man was reported stealing merchandise from a 7-II store shortly after midnight Tuesday. The Sergeant says officers received a description of the suspect. and a patrolling officer spotted a man matching the description walk into the Shell Station at Highway 49 and Elm Avenue. Hutchins says as officers approached they saw 32 year old Dereck Norris trying to steal beer.

Norris was taken into custody for suspicion of robbery and resisting arrest. He was booked into the Placer County Jail after being medically cleared at Auburn Faith Hospital.
