Convenience Store Stop Not So Convenient

A stop at the Quik Stop Convenience Store was anything but convenient for a Grass Valley couple on Thursday morning. Sgt Steve Johnson says that Grass valley Police officers were dispatched to the store on Hughes Road around 11:00 AM. A caller reported a man with a knife threatening her husband that had gone into the store and was returning to the car when he was approached by the suspect, Gabriel McGill.

The man’s wife called police from the car. Officers arrived quickly and were able to detain McGill and eventually locate an 11 inch fix-blade knife that was hidden near a propane tank locker.

Video surveillance confirmed the victim’s story and a physical search of McGill also turned up a syringe. McGill was taken into custody and booked for allegedly brandishing a weapon, making terrorists threats, and possession of paraphernalia.
