A convicted sex offender from Nevada County has been now been arrested in Santa Cruz. 25-year-old Daniel VanDoren, considered a transient, has been arrested for walking into the Santa Cruz High School gym. No students were contacted, according to police. VanDoren was convicted in Nevada County two years ago for having sex with a minor under 14 years old. Then, in March of that year, he was arrested again for a similar offense, as well as for breaking into a Nevada City restaurant. District Attorney Cliff Newell says VanDoren pleaded guilty a few months later, was sentenced to a year in jail, and then released on probation.
