Newell praised Assistant D-A Jim Phillips for his work in prosecuting the case. He says since Gassaway embezzled over $100,000 it qualified as what he calls an “aggravated white collar crime”, with a possible sentence of over 10 years in prison…

Gassaway was also seen on surveillance video preparing invoices with no customer present. But Newell credits the efforts of a forensic auditor hired by Waste Management in providing more conclusive evidence.
