Cornavirus May Hamper Initiative Process

The next deadline for proponents to file initiative petition signatures for the November ballot is April 21st. And even though counter service is not available at county elections offices, due to the coronavirus crisis, there are still alternatives. That includes by mail. And in Nevada County, a drop box is available at the Rood Center where property tax payments are also being made. Appointments are only available if it’s too late to send the petition in the mail, in which case you would need to contact the elections office in advance by e-mail. And they would need to be prepared to let staff know how many signatures and pages are being delivered.
