The Grass Valley City Council will decide tonight whether or not to hold an election for its three seats that are up at the end of this term. Only three candidates filed for the three seats, so with no challengers, there’s not a big reason to go ahead with it. Mayor Jason Fouyer says it’s expensive, but there might be one reason to do it…
Write-in campaigns are very hard to win. Fouyer says it’s too bad that there aren’t any challengers this time…
Public comment will be taken, and if there’s serious interest in a new candidate, they might go ahead with the election. Otherwise, the three incumbents–Jan Arbuckle, Howard Levine, and Lisa Swarthout–will likely be appointed. Tonight’s meeting starts at 7 o’clock at City Hall.
