County Adds Hand Washing Stations for Homeless

Nevada County has issued an update on how they are trying to help the homeless stay safe during the coronavirus pandemic. Hand washing stations have been installed around the county-not only in Grass Valley and Nevada City, but also in Truckee. Director of Housing and Community Services Mike Dent says a couple of those stations are around Hospitality House and their executive director told him they are being put to good use…

The hand washing stations were installed last week. There’s one in front of City Hall in Nevada City. There’s also one at the Tinloy Transit Station in Grass Valley. Dent says they’ve also found a way to keep homeless out of the cold during the day in Eastern County…

That facility is open Tuesday through Saturday. Dent also says Project Room Key is up and running, which makes motel rooms available to the most vulnerable homeless who may be showing symptoms of coronavirus.
