County Approves Tax Break for Property Owners

Nevada county Supervisors yesterday approved a tax reduction related to the fee property owners pay to maintain the now closed McCourtney Road landfill.     County Public works Director Steve Castleberry says  the action will reduce Solid Waste Parcel charges by half for both residential and commercial property owners.

Lower parcel charges will also help local schools.

Castleberry says Waste Management has taken over operations at the landfill and transfer station under a new franchise agreement that has allowed the county to pay off bonds for the transfer station, allowing them to lower parcel charges.
