County Cleans Up Leaking Fuel Tanks

About 4 years ago Nevada County Environmental health Department contracted with the State Water Resources control board to clean up leaking underground motor fuel storage tank sites in the county.  Nevada County Environmental Health Director Wesley Nicks gave an update on the project to the board of supervisors this week stating about one fourth of the 29 cases they identified have been successfully closed, including leaking tanks at the Shell Station on the corner of Hughes Road and East Main Street in Grass Valley.

Environmental Health also closed the books on   PG and E , Express Mart and Kingdom Hall in Grass Valley,   Alta Sierra Gas in Alta Sierra , Nevada City Maintenance yard in Nevada City and Pat and Ollies Gas Station on Donner Pass road in Truckee. Nicks says 7 sites remain to be re mediated.
