County funds Fire Safe Council

The Fire Safe Council of Nevada County has received two service contracts from Nevada County to assist local residents in fire protection…. one is for  $47,000 to fund the firewise communities and the the second contract is coming through prop 172 funding and is for $30,000  that will provide for other programs like chipping, special needs assistance, publishing the annual Fire Season Guide and other activities.

Fire Safe council Executive Director Joanne Drummond says several members of firewise communities in the county came out to the Nevada County  Board of Supervisors meeting to support the Fire Safe Council.

Drummond also says the Fire Safe Council works closely with county fire districts to make more properties more fire safe. The total contract amount for the Fire Safe Council is $77,443 and is spread over two fiscal years.
