Nevada County’s new Veterans Services Officer, Kevin Edwards joined the Navy at the age of 17 and stayed in for twenty years. He says his job was an exciting one.
He says it was a very stressful job but a lot of fun too. Now that he is retired from the Navy Edwards says his next mission is to help veterans get the services and care they need and are entitled to.

Edwards says he saw how his grandfather, who served in World War II suffered in his later years because he didn’t get the benefits he was entitled to. Edwards is already at work in the new Veterans office in the Brighton Greens complex on McCourtney Rd.
He says the office has had some struggles and ask for a little patience from the Veterans.
The Veterans Services Office is a County- and State-funded agency to assist veterans, survivors and dependents in obtaining federal, state, and local benefits accrued through active duty military service.
