Hundreds of small school children will be descending on the Nevada County Fairgrounds today, for the first annual Farm Day…
That’s Nevada County Resource Conservation District Executive Director Janet Blake, who is putting the event together. She says many of the six to nine year-olds don’t know where their food comes from, or how other things are produced. There will be a lot to learn…
…so kids will learn that milk comes from cows. Blake says they were overwhelmed by the number of schools and teachers that responded to the invitation, so they had to cap the number of students at about 700. (The event is separate from the Draft Horse Classic, which starts tonight, but Blake says the kids will get to see some of the horses and learn about the animals).
