County Holiday Today and Furlough Days Planned for Nov. and Dec.

Today marks the official holiday for Columbus Day and all County offices are closed.

The county is also preparing for holiday and furlough days for November and December to assist in meeting county financial goals.
Eight furlough days are planned for the remainder of the calendar year.  Seven of the eight furlough days will be designated as “facility closure” days: November 25, 26, and 27 and December 23, 24, 26 and 27. The November days precede Thanksgiving and the December Days wrap around Christmas..

The designated closure days will not affect service delivery from the Departments of Auditor-Controller, Clerk-Recorder, District Attorney, Probation, Public Defender, Public Works and Sheriff. All other Departments will be closed and will only provide emergency and mandated services as required.

By utilizing the furlough days, the County will save approximately $1.4 million in the next Fiscal Year. Employees should be recognized for their assistance in solving this severe revenue decline and for helping to save jobs for the good of the organization and community.
