Phillips says the latest count, which was done in January, showed 379 homeless people in Nevada County, and there are probably many more than that. He also says 60 percent of those counted say they have been in the county five years or longer…
Phillips, who is the son of the late folk singer and homeless advocate Utah Phillips, began his new position on July 31. The job was created, in part, in response to a recommendation by the Nevada County Grand Jury.
