County Library Receives Grant to Fund Mobile Technology Center

The California State Library released a grant proposal program called “Pitch an Idea” in January of this year, inviting public libraries in California to pitch an idea for grant funding for their district. Nevada County Librarian, Laura Pappani says her department submitted a proposal to create a mobile technology center, and the California State Library accepted their grant proposal and awarded the full amount requested, which was $51,000. Now that the funds have been received Pappani says they will start by purchasing a vehicle.

The mobile technology center will visit library branches as well as communities in the County that do not have easy access to Library service. It will operate a regular schedule of stops around the County.

They will also deliver books on hold and issue library cards. Pappani says they hope to have the new Mobil Technology Center rolling down the roads of Nevada County  by January of next year.
